NEIGHBORHOOD GRANTS AVAILABLE

Deschutes County Rural Fire Protection District #2 offers grants to provide assistance to groups or individuals to encourage wildfire risk reduction within the boundaries of the fire district. The funds are administered by the DCRFPD #2 Board of Directors.

Examples of funded projects include: disposal fees; hauling and dumpster fees; volunteer expenses such as refreshments, transportation and food; mailing or advertising expenses to “get the word out”; and fuels modification costs.

“The creation and maintenance of defensible space is the primary focus of these grants,” states Tom Fay, manager for DCRFPD #2.

Contact DCRFPD #2 for more information and an application for funding – 318-0459.

Other grants are available to community groups seeking funds for wildfire risk reduction activities. Contact Kate Lighthall at Project Wildfire for more information at 322-6396. For further information on the Hazardous Fuels Reduction Program for Low Income Landowners, please contact Project Wildfire at (541) 382-1675.
